Years before Mediterranean food was trending, Ameen “Mooney” David gave Winston-Salem a taste of authentic Lebanese cuisine that became a local sensation. With recipes inspired by his family’s cooking (or as he puts it: “a collaboration built on friendly arguments with my mother-in-law”), Mooney’s Mediterranean Cafe served mouthwatering falafels, shawarmas, hummus, and more with consistency and care. 

The great flavors, live music, hookah nights, and Mooney’s humorous wit all contributed to an experience that many of us miss. We’re tipping the tarboosh to this legend.

While Mooney requested that proceeds go to cancer research, we’re aware of his battle with colon cancer and the massive debt he’s incurred. For that reason, a portion of proceeds from every purchase will assist with his medical expenses.
